Ladies and Gentlemen, this was the day! Today is the day that I made Such is Life - Episode 1 available publicly on the website. And this is how I feel it went:
I made the posts and included the links. I did it earlier in the day and as it went public at 6pm. The posts were practically unnoticed. On top of that, I don't think anyone actually went to look and read it. On top of even that, I decided to go live at 7pm and a couple friends popped in but never more than, I think 7 people. Gotta admit... that kinda stings. Moments like that make you wonder, "Why? Why even bother?"
On the flip side of that coin, I still did it! I wrote something and I posted it and it's live and publicly available in a way that I control. I have to remember that my site will be up tomorrow and late tonight and next week. Sunday Night Football is on and that isn't going to be on later. People were likely watching that and I didn't take that into consideration when I chose my date and time. Even if that isn't the reasoning, none of that equates that I'm a bad writer or that my story isn't good or damn funny. I have to remember that I determine my value. Others are welcome to their opinions, but as the late great Chester Bennington of Linkin Park said, "In the end, it doesn't even matter."
So, as I type this and I'm kinda salty on the lack of response to something that means SO much to me, that doesn't change the piece or its value to me. "Such Is Life" is still special and important. Some people will care. Some won't. Some will put in the effort to support me. Some will not.
